Rory Kestrel was a merchant from Tallo in the Anderfels. He has been a contact of Varric Tethras for years. When he got into trouble, Varric helped him and invited his ship to sail to Kirkwall to avoid the Anderfels judgement. Drinking at the Hanged man with his old friend, he met Isabela, another resident of that tavern. The two of them immediately started flirting, ignoring Varric warnings. Eventually, they both fell in love and he helped her with the relic and her old enemies. After DA2 events, they fled in his merchant ship and became pirates, as co-captains, rulers of the Waking Sea. (Raiders of the Waking Sea/Felicisima Armada).
He was 33 when the Fifth Blight touched Ferelden.
