“Quote” — (Who said it/To who) (Year)
A noble woman of the Caron family in Orlais. Born in the year 8:78 in Montsimmard, she quickly trained to become a Chevalier. Being a blood relative of Aveline — the first female chevalier, she decided to pass herself off as a man in order to avoid being compared to her ancestor and, more generally, to gain greater freedom. Although women are permitted to join the elite military, “Dame” are not often encouraged to take up arms. It wasn’t long before she asked to be addressed using masculine pronouns. Montsimmard might be far from the Fereldan border, the ongoing conflict between Orlais and Ferelden was still palpable. He grew up learning how to ride a horse and use swords before he was a teen. Narcisse was twelve when his father sent him to Amaranthine, siding with a Fereldan ally, Tarleton Howe. He got to see combat from up close, learn strategies, and put what he had been taught into practice. They were officially made Chevalier a few years before arl was hanged by the rebel army. Narcisse was sent as a messenger back to Orlais to inform the Emperor of Ferelden actions. Concerned by the course of action, Narcisse parents asked him to stay in Montsimmard and serve locally, the rebel army growing in strength in every missives. After Maric reclaimed his throne and put an end to the Orlesian occupation, intestine strife occurred among the nobles of Orlais. Rumours and scandals were a common thing, especially with the grand Game, and those who knew how to bend it’s rules. Amidst accusations of treason, slander and turpitude, defamation was spreading like a decease in the Empire. Caught in the middle of a scandal, Narcisse was accused of siding with the enemy, getting Tarleton killed, and desertion. It was all a lie, of course, but the doubt caused enough discord to create problems for his family. Thus, given his choice was death by hanging or join the Wardens, and die later, the choice was easy. ”Death before dishonour”, but make his death purposeful. Joining the Wardens, he travelled wherever he was needed. Until King Cailan requested his and other wardens’ assistance, suspecting Ferelden might be facing a Blight. Dragon Age Origins) Since he had become a Grey Warden, he tried to maintain his ideals and family honour, but knew he was a good as dead. What he was before joining the order was another existence. Even though he was Orlesian at heart, he couldn’t dismiss the orders to help Ferelden in its war against the darkspawn. Especially given his recently obtained Warden-Commander status. He was training new recruits, but soon before he had to leave for Ostagar, he fell ill and was bedridden for a few days. By the time he could join his fellow Wardens, they had all been killed in battle, and blamed for the massacre at the Battle of Ostagar. As a firm believe in the Maker, he thought it was some kind of sign to ask him to stay in Orlais for the time being. After Alistair and the warden Deirdre Surana freed Riordan, the latter send a report to Narcisse, before dying against the Archdemon. The resentment towards the Grey Wardens ended with the sacrifice (At least, that’s what Deirdre wanted people to say. She survived and ran away, hating the title of “Hero of Ferelden” with a passion) of the warden ending the Blight, and Narcisse was free to roam in Ferelden again, called to help in Amaranthine again, like old times. (Dragon Age Awakening). He helped restoring Vigil’s Keep and recruited new Wardens.
