Alba de Riva

Alba de Riva is a companion in Dragon Age The Veilguard. He is a performer elven mage working with the Antivan Crows and part of the Friends of Red Jenny. Alba is a romance option for a male presenting Rook.

Alba was found as an infant in a Chantry in Antiva City, named after the dawn and the pale vitiligo marks covering the baby elf. When the first signs of his fire magic appeared, both Alba and the Chantry sisters were scared of his uncontrollable flames, calling Templars for assistance, promising him a spot in one of Antiva’s Circle. He was merely a child when he ran away, before the Templars could even come near. The urchin stayed with fellow children in the streets. Bargaining, stealing, living wherever they could. It’s only years later that he started performing and got noticed by a travelling troop. Taking the occasion to live his homeland, he finally overcame the fear of his own magic and expressed his true self on stage.

Once in Orlais, he met Sera and joined the Friends of Red Jenny, helping his new-found cause on his travels. It’s only a few years later that Viago de Riva crosses his path in Treviso and Alba joins the Antivan Crows to be with his lover.
Still in contact with Sera, a fellow Friend of Red Jenny, Alba helped the Inquisition gather intel from the Antivan Crows, protect targets in Orlais and distract Red Templars in the Free Marches.
Facing a difficult break-up with Viago, his partner at the time, Alba gladly went back to Orlais to assist the Inquisition for a while, executing more contracts in a handful of months than he did in two years of being a Crow.
He quickly came back to his home in Treviso when he realised it didn’t change a thing. But for a few years, he kept the Inquisition updated on the situation from all around Thedas, as a spy agent. He often visited their headquarters in Orlais and Skyhold whenever he had a contract in the area, not really caring whether the Inquisition was officially over or not.
Continuously following the wind and where his multiple jobs took him, he ended up at the Cobbled Swan in Minrathous’ Dock Town, after assisting the Inquisitor with a stolen map of Orlais’ wilds for the evacuation of Halamshiral.
When Rook met Alba, he/she/they weren’t sure what to think of that jack of all trades, but Lace Harding, Morrigan and the Inquisitor seemed to trust him, so he/she/they did, too. He promised to join them after finishing a quick mission, heading to Wharf Crossing North to steal bottles of wine from a rich magister and ruin his party. Rook first though it was an Antivan Crow contract, confused, then thought it was a joke, but finally understood it was a message from the Friends of Red Jenny.
