◇Chronological Summary
- 7:07 Storm Age — Birth
- 7:25 Storm Age — New Exalted Marches declared by the Chantry to retake Seheron from the Qunari. Barely an adult by then, she was trained to be a healer back in her resistance group. Using blood magic to mend and heal.
The war continued for decades, and she started using the blood of the enemies, as well. Knowing she was important to keep the other the Fog Warriors alive, she used blood magic on herself to slow down her aging and boost her powers. Sometimes manipulating opponents into believing they’ve seen no one around their camp, making them forget they even found it.
- 7:84 Storm Age — This marked the end of the war, for a while. Tevinter won the island from the Qunari, but the Fog Warriors still weren’t free. Now aged 77, she barely looked a day above her late twenties. Tevinter attacks never stopped on the continent, in order to maintain that control. She continued to use blood magic on herself and the new generations that were born since, protecting them with her magic as much as she possibly could.
- 8:55 Blessed Age — After years of brokered “peace” between the Qunari and Tevinter on the island, they stroke back. Amidst the chaos, Tevinter continued its usual slave traffic in the area.
The Fog Warriors of her group were less and less in number each year. She had seen births and last breaths, defeats over defeats. It’s been over a century and nothing had changed. They couldn’t remain there and simply survive. Fighting back wasn’t enough. It never proved efficient and only lessened their numbers even more.
Giving up, was something they had never tried. Something crazy, against their survival instincts, against their ideals as Fog Warriors, but something that proved to work, unlike the other solutions.
In the long war between Qunari and Magisters, she got taken by magisters on a ship to the continent. She used the blood of her dead brethren to free those who survived the trip and escape. Most Seheron inhabitants before the Magisters/Qunari were elves and humans. A lot of elves were taken on another ship to be sold as slaves in the Imperium, and the humans put together in her ship to be sold in the south of Tevinter.
She didn't kill the magisters, but rather manipulated their mind with her blood magic to get what she needed: to get further to the south and free themselves of that never stopping conflict.
As Seheron inhabitants, they aren't well informed about the whereabouts outside of their island, simply trying to survive the attacks without giving them a chance to learn anything about their opponent.
So she asked the magister questions, checked their map of Thedas, compared it to her old Seheron one.
Rayu noticed the world was much bigger than she thought, and quickly realised war probably doesn't stop at their island, or in their country. Still heading south, they eventually reached Neverra.
It seemed oddly calmer. She could feel it, literally, in her veins. The fact less blood occupied these lands, weirdly enough. So she kept asking questions, learning about the rest of the world.
Nevarra was known for it's corpses and Necropolis. While Tevinter was commonly associated with magical greed and corruption.
Some wanted to continue their way to the south, but she was intrigued and stayed there for a while. After making sure the manipulated magister wouldn't turn his back on her fellows, she left. Using her hair as a map, carrying the remaining of blood she could save for emergencies, she walked in that new land, meeting spirits, corpses and Mourn Watchers.
- 8:70 Blessed Age — After a series of political issues and unsuccessful weddings between Nevarran and Orlesian nobility, a war to take control of the western hills around Perendale resulted in Nevarran victory. Rayu helped the Nevarran soldiers, claiming to be just a simple healer and hiding her real blood magic.
- 8:82 Blessed Age — The victory over Orlais inflated the Nevarran leaders’s ego and encouraged a bloody campaign of conquest over the Free Marches. During that period of time, Rayu left the Nevarra entirely, tired of blood-thirsty wars. She visited the southern Orlesian wilds to find her former Fog Warriors friends. Most of them either very old, dead, or meeting their successors. By then, she barely looked in her late 40s.
