They are old mages: Aisling is a Somnari (a dream mage) while Lusacan is a shapeshifter. He was born blind, just another son of a petty noble, but his magical powers allow him to see in the Fade. Aisling has been using his abilities to travel the spirit world to talk to them, as a Fortune Teller. His wife of 50 years, on the other hand, was a slave. She used her hidden shapeshifting abilities to run away. Lusacan spends most of her time under an animal form when she goes out, an old habit of the days after she escaped to remain incognito. Her favourite shape is an owl. They met each other as she was hiding and stealing food to survive. They’re both in their late 70s.
